Reiki Courses in Melbourne are everywhere, but it is important to pick the right Reiki Course for you! Here are some tips for picking a Reiki course when you are ready to learn Reiki.
1. Do a Reiki healing with the Reiki Master first!
Every Reiki practitioner works a little differently. It’s important to find someone you vibe with and whom you can trust. The best way to do that is to book in with them for a Reiki healing treatment first! That way you can see how they work, feel out their clinic space, and get to know them a little. I’ve had plenty of Reiki treatments done with different practitioners, and not everyone practices Reiki the same. Most of the Reiki practitioners I went to, I didn’t actually vibe with and would not go back to! Your energy is sacred, and as such, be discerning about who you let into your energetic circle.
2. Just because they are a ‘Reiki Master’, does not necessarily mean they embody the essence of Reiki
Unfortunately, just like any other industry, there are practitioners in the Reiki industry that are here purely for monetary gain, ego, or other not-so-truthful reasons. This is why it’s important to do your research on not just the Reiki course in Melbourne, but also the Reiki Master. You can sense a lot from someone from their website, social media, and especially from their google reviews. If there are no google reviews, this might be a red flag too. Know that you can always call the Reiki Master and have a chat over the phone if you’re not sure too. However, always use your gut instinct and intuition, and listen to what they are telling you!
3. The cheapest and quickest Reiki Course is not always the best
Some Reiki Masters offer 1-day Reiki courses, and even a weekend ‘Reiki Mastership’ course! To me it is mind-boggling as it is impossible to teach all elements of Reiki, and also give enough time for participants to practice Reiki healing in such a short space of time. My Reiki Level 1 and Reiki Level 2 Courses are both full weekend courses, run over the space of roughly 15.5 hours each. I run Reiki Level 3a (Reiki Practitioner) course over another full weekend (again 15.5 hours).
The Reiki Mastership course is a 1:1 mentorship that runs over a full 12 months. Reiki energy healing is special, sacred, and originally taught via a lineage system. This means Reiki attunements, symbols, and other practices are passed down from Master to student (in person). In order to preserve this lineage, I ensure the Reiki Mastership course is long enough in order for students to have a deep understanding of what it really means to be a Reiki Master, and enough time to integrate, practice, write their own manuals, and truly understand what it takes to be able to teach Reiki to others.
4. Can I change Reiki Courses from one practitioner to another?
Absolutely. Generally speaking it’s ideal to follow a specific lineage, however it may not always be possible. Sometimes things happen, such as your Reiki Master might stop offering Reiki courses, you (or they!) might relocate to a different geographical location, or you just might not gel with the Reiki Master you were practicing under. In this case, you can definitely search for another Reiki Master to undertake further Reiki Courses. Your new Reiki Master may ask you questions such as where and who you did your previous Reiki courses with, to ensure you are in line with their own lineage. This will generally be on a case by case basis, and very much dependent on the Reiki Master.
5. Do I have to repeat a Reiki Course if I change Reiki Masters?
Not usually. Once you’ve been attuned at a particular level to Reiki energy, you won’t ever need to be re-attuned. However, if your previous Reiki Master didn’t teach what your new Reiki Master is teaching due to a different lineage, or added extras on the Reiki Course, you might like to redo a Reiki level to ensure you cover everything. This is a good question to ask your new or potentially new Reiki Master.
