Reiki healing requires relinquishing control

Reiki healing requires relinquishing control of our ego, of the fear of not being enough for our clients, and of being perfect. Reiki is energy, and when we learn energy healing, we also learn that we are simply a vessel to allow energy to flow through us to our clients. It is not about us, but about being present and there 100% for our client.

Practicing Reiki is an art of allowing

The moment we try to control or lead a Reiki session, is the moment that we have stepped out of intuition, trust and allowing. Instead, we have stepped into ego, fear, and control. Our job as a Reiki healer is to hold a safe space for our clients to feel comfortable and relaxed. To allow energy to flow through us to our clients for the purposes of healing. And most importantly, to get out of our own head, trust in our capabilities, and set the intention to be fully present for our clients.

Learning Reiki does get easier

When learning any new skill it can be daunting! It requires more thought, more energy and more concentration. But as we get better at something, it becomes easier, and we start to feel more confident in our abilities. It’s the same when learning Reiki. In a Reiki Level 1 Course, there are always going to be feelings of nervousness, and energy is heightened as students start to learn the process. However when students continue their Reiki training, and go on to complete their Reiki Level 2 Course, then Reiki Mastership, practicing Reiki gets easier.

Reiki healing requires relinquishing control

It’s so important to really listen to our clients’ needs, and to find out why our clients have booked in for Reiki. Understanding what it is that they really want, rather than telling them what we think is key. It can be very easy for our ego to get in the way, but keep reminding yourself that the session is not about you, it is always about the client!

Managing your emotions and energy

If we have had a bad day, not in a good mental space, or not feeling well, it is up to us to manage our own emotions and energy. It is always better to see less clients, or make more time for yourself, than to push through. It is not helpful for your clients if you are tired, burnt out, grumpy or frustrated. Managing your emotions and energy is vital to attracting and retaining your best clients.

Put your ego to one side, so that you can be fully present for your client. Remember you are there to hold space, and to allow energy to flow through you.
