Practicing self-Reiki requires self-discipline – just like any other practice! Whether it’s yoga, meditation, sport, or any other skill, we tend to improve the more we practice. Reiki is no different.
Benefits of self-Reiki
Once you have completed Reiki Level 1, you will have learnt how to Reiki other people and also yourself. Self-Reiki practice has immense benefits, including becoming more deeply connected to yourself, calming your own body and mind, becoming more connected to Reiki energy, and having the power to shift how you feel. Just like a regular meditation practice, it can ground you, and help you to feel more centered and calm.
The hardest part is starting
Like all things when you first start out, it can be challenging to get into the rhythm. Your mind might wander, you might fidget a lot and find it difficult to sit still, or perhaps you just don’t feel that connected to Reiki energy (yet)! Keep in mind that it will get easier and more comfortable the more you practice. The hardest part is simply carving out time for your self-Reiki practice each day
Self-Reiki requires self-discipline
Having self-discipline is a vital skill to cultivate when creating the life you want to live! Without self-discipline, we are either masters of excuses or we tend to have ‘shiny-thing syndrome’. There is always something more exciting or more important to do. Work, family, kids, not a morning person, no time, the dog needs to be walked, etc. There is always an excuse when we need one, or something more urgent that needs to be done. Self-discipline is the ability to control yourself without needing someone else to tell you what to do. Having self-discipline is the key to being self-empowered, where you don’t need to rely on others for motivation, drive or accountability. You’re life is up to you and what you make of it, and self-discipline is at the heart of it.
Practicing self-Reiki is a decision
It starts with making a conscious decision to practice self-Reiki on a regular basis. Maybe its every morning Monday to Friday. It could be every evening before you go to bed. Find a time and routine that works for you, and know that everyone is different. It can help to piggyback a new habit onto something you already do. For example, if perhaps you already exercise in the morning, maybe you could piggy back self-Reiki practice onto that habit you have already created. After the gym, you might come home and practice self-Reiki for 10 minutes before jumping in the shower. Or perhaps every lunch time before you eat lunch, you might create 10 minutes for self-Reiki practice. Find a routine that works for you.
Self-discipline is taking responsibility for your Self
When you lack self-discipline it takes a toll on your confidence, self-esteem, motivation and drive. But when you work on cultivating self-discipline, it has the opposite effect. It boosts your confidence, builds your inner strength and resolve, and you start to feel like you can accomplish anything!
If you are struggling with following through, or can’t seem to find a routine that works for you, book in for a Reiki healing here, or a coaching session here. Regular self-Reiki practice really can change your life – not just the incredible Reiki energy, but the self-discipline it requires too!
