What is a Reiki attunement?
What is a Reiki attunement is a great question, one I get asked a lot by Reiki students! A Reiki attunement is the process in which a Reiki Master initiates a student to Reiki energy and the practice of Reiki. The Usui System of Reiki (originating from Mikau Usui) is passed down from teacher to student following a lineage system. During a Reiki attunement a student’s innate healing capacity is awakened and you become tuned into Reiki energy.
Reiki is a frequency
Everything is frequency, and Reiki has a particular energy frequency too. When you receive a Reiki attunement, you are aligned with the frequency of Reiki energy. Energy centres on your crown, heart and palms are activated, opening you up to an abundance of Universal energy. You can then channel this Reiki energy to heal yourself, your family and friends, and in many other ways.
Reiki Level 1 attunement
Every time you complete a higher level of Reiki, you will receive a higher level Reiki attunement. For example, in Reiki Level 1 ‘Shoden’, you will receive a Reiki Level 1 attunement. This aligns you with the frequency of Reiki energy. During a Reiki Level 2 ‘Okuden’ attunement, you will receive the frequency of 3 sacred symbols, and deepen your connection with Reiki energy. In Reiki Level 3a ‘Shinpiden’, you will receive an activation of the Usui Master symbol. And in Reiki Mastership, you will receive further symbols to deepen your practice, as well as learn how to attune other students to Reiki energy.
The Levels of Reiki
As a Reiki Level 1 practitioner, you are only able to practice Reiki on yourself and your family and friends. Once you have completed Reiki Level 2, you are then qualified to practice professionally if you wish! Only after completing your Reiki Mastership (this is a 12 month mentorship with me), will you be able to teach Reiki to others. During a Reiki Course, as a Reiki Master Teacher, you will then be able to attune others to Reiki energy.
Innate healing capacity
You will never have to be re-attuned to Reiki. Once you have been attuned to Reiki energy, you are attuned for life. However, if you were attuned to Reiki years ago, and have had a big break, you might choose to do another Reiki course and be re-attuned. This will help you reconnect to Reiki, and strengthen your connection to this energy once more. There is no harm in being re-attuned to Reiki, it will only help you access this innate healing power more deeply.
Online vs In Person Reiki Attunements
Reiki attunements can technically be done online, however in order to preserve the Usui System of Reiki lineage and modality, I personally only run Reiki Courses in person. This is in line with the Australian Reiki Connection. All my Reiki Courses are accredited with the ARC and internationally recognised. I also personally believe it’s important to receive a hands on Reiki attunement and practice hands on Reiki to begin with. This was how Mikau Usui taught his students originally. Once you have a strong base knowledge of the hands on practice of Reiki, you can further develop Distant Reiki. There are also so many other kinds of incredible uses for Reiki.
